How to Properly Mix Resin Pigment and the Supplies You’ll Need

Resin-PigmentAdding colour to your resin can elevate the look of your jewellery, but before you just throw some things into the mix, you need to learn how to properly mix resin pigment to get the best results. If you are unsure of how to do this, follow the steps below to get you started.

Supplies You Need

Before you get started with mixing your resin pigment, you will need to gather all of the supplies that you need:

  • Wax paper
  • Small cup
  • Larger cup or bowl with your main resin
  • Pigment powder
  • Stirring stick

The stirring stick should have a flat front similar to a Popsicle stick. A round stirring stick will allow clumps to form and is not as efficient as a flat surface stick.

Properly Mixing Resin Pigment

1. Start by placing wax paper on a flat, clean surface.

2. Place a small amount of resin onto the wax paper using the small cup.

3. Using the stirring stick, add a sprinkle of resin pigment to the resin you placed on the wax paper.

4. You will now need to mix the powder into the resin using the stick. Continue mixing until the resin powder is completely blended and there are no lumps.

5. You can now scoop up the coloured resin and place it into the larger cup of resin and stir it in. If you think that you need a darker colour, add in a tiny bit more powder, mix, and the reevaluate the colour.

6. You can now use your coloured resin as needed.
